Microsoft is introducing ads into a free version of Office, which seemingly only lets users save to OneDrive.

In other news, LibreOffice is also free, doesn't have ads, and lets you save your documents wherever you want. I use it every day for my work. It is available here:

update: thanks to @juniper for tracking down this exceptional resource for getting your old mac back on the road. most importantly, has a nice local proxy to get you TLS 1.3 ("Legacy Mac Proxy")
jonathanalland.com/old-osx-pro

if you’ve got an old mac that has to remain on an older version of Mac OS X, you’ve probably noticed that all of its SSL based internet connections fail.

it’s due to expired root certificates, which you can update for free here:

Cdramaland's weirdest urban fantasy/superhero/wuxia/xuanhuan drama is back! #Cdramas rarely get a second season, so the fact that #IAmNobody got a second season says a lot!

What makes this drama stand out is the zany, "wtf is going on" off kilter humor which somehow is able to balance out the angst. Also, the killer soundtrack.

Finished up “Bodkin”. Considerably better than average, I’d say. It’s a tough script because the lead character is extremely un-likable, but they pull it off. Some fairly sick humor. Recommended.

A hill I’ll die on every time: NAT is a security feature. It wasn’t intended as one, it shouldn’t be used as one, but it IS one. If I go into my router and disable the firewall, then do the same on every device I own, not a single extra device on my network becomes publicly exposed. That is security. It makes it hard for users with poor cybersecurity awareness to accidentally expose devices to the entire internet. If we disabled uPNP by default, we’d see a huge drop in automated exploitation.
